'Chang' - Dumpling

My first ever attempt on making a 'chang' (dumpling).
It literally took me half an hour to wrap/tie the first one.
Gosh.
Why does everything always looks so easy when it's someone else who's doing it.

This is the first!
It's pretty decent looking... Not too bad.
:)

Bak Chang (salty dumpling?)
Though it lacks all those yummy ingredients like.. errm.. Chestnuts, Salted Egg Yolks etc, it's still good.
Oh well, there's really no way for me to get them here anyways.

More! More!
It really gets so so much easier once you get the hang of it.

'Puah Kiam Ti Chang' (Half sweet half salty dumpling!)

Fillings for it.

Since I don't have a pot big enough to steam all of them, and of course, being lazy to wait for it to cook, boiling it take much much lesser time. :)
But then, the taste comes out into the water.
Hmmm... maybe I can drink the water as if it's soup??

Final product

:)
Yum.
*smiles proudly*

It'll take me much much more practice before I'll be able to wrap 'kee chang' (alkaline dumpling).
Lots of skill.
Ah... I can't wait till I'll be able to make those.
Miss those so much.
Should definitely look out for good palm sugar now. Since there's no gula melaka here.
*sigh*

Studebaker

Such a well-kept Studebaker.
I swear it's worth millions of dollars.
The lights. Brake and turn signals.
The windows.
Most importantly the vehicle itself.
It's just.. Whao!

NYC 04

Grand Central Terminal

Ah... to see all these food.. especially the fish.. so fresh...
How I wish I've stayed in NYC. I'm being deprived of seafood. :(
Mum says, "Nyeh, I've got better ones :D"
I knowwwwwww. Not all states in the States have access to the sea what.
Moreover, we don't get those small yummy fishes.
Ah. I miss stingray. Guess I can drop by the zoo and erm, catch one?
Hehe.

White asparagus? Hmm...

Just some interesting things along the way :)

NYC 03

Huge TV of M&M's
:)

A-ha! That's where all (most) our books came from.
Gosh. Look at the cubicles. Each window sits one person.
Tsk. Tsk.

The first lighthouse in NYC/Brooklyn area.
It's now the home to the famous and best ice cream in Brooklyn.
Yum.
Too bad I was on the bus and don't get to try any.
Neways, nevermind. Mister Softie is good enough.
It's definitely the best soft serve ice cream I've ever had till now. It's SO creeeaaamyy.

Weird how the lights on top of the cop cars here are in the shape of 'V'.

Says her, "I got it! I got it!"
And he tries to pluck it off a tree.

Empire State Building

We were there at just the right time.
Just in time to see NYC @ day. And @ night.
It's just so mesmerizing.
Of course all you can see is only rooftops. :p

I guess this might be the biggest Toy 'R Us you can find?
It's 5 storeys!
But then, we find it kinda disappointing. Did not even spend half an hour there. It's nothing compared to Hamleys.
NOTHING!
Anyways, that's a running ferris wheel. Obviously, it's five storeys tall. Indoors.

United Nations

Personalized stamps!

Gift from Malaysia to the UN.
All gold. With the 13 states sirih holders around it.

NYC 02

Tiles from Sept. 11

After Sept. 11, people started putting tiles on this fence.
Wishes, and also families of lost ones would put up contact information etc.
It first started out as 'tiles on the fence'. But eventually more and more people leaving tiles, flowers, wishes, it now became a national monument, commemorating those who've lost their lives in the Sept. 11 event.

Statue of Liberty

Bubba Gump Shrimp

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Those who've watched Forest Gump should know that Forrest owns a shrimping business, and names it Bubba Gump. It has mainly shrimp dishes, but also has other seafood as well.

I like how the places runs. Instead of having waiters stopping by asking "how's everything?" every other minute, or waiting for 15 minutes for a waiter to stop by when you need something.

"Run Forrest Run"
Means you don't need any service, and asking the waiter to run along.

"Stop Forrest Stop"
Meaning you needed service, and is signaling the waiter to stop by your table.

Of course. The food are good as well. With very decent prices.

Food. Tho I don't remember what we ordered.

The 'newspaper' used to wrap the "I'm Stuffed Shrimp" (I THINK that's what the dish is called) is specially printed with news related to Forrest.
:)

Bubba Shrimp :)
(not Bubba Gump, since he does not look like a gump)
